HELENA – Governor Steve Bullock, Lieutenant Governor Angela McLean, and Director Sheila Hogan presented awards to 216 state employees today at the 26th annual Governor’s Awards for Excellence ceremony in Helena. Employees receiving the awards came from 25 different Montana communities.
"From clearing snow from our roads, to fighting fires in our forests, state employees provide important services in every corner of Montana," said Bullock. "I’m honored to work with these men and women that we’re recognizing today; folks who went above and beyond to provide quality service to the people of Montana."
"The stories today tell of a highway patrolman who risked his life to save the life of a mother of three involved in a car crash; of employees in the State Grain Lab who worked long hours to help Montana farmers cope with late season rain storm that damaged much of the state’s grain crops; employees who worked tirelessly in the middle of the winter during the pipeline spill on the Yellowstone River; and a team that worked to implement a new program to detect life-threatening heart defects in newborns," he added. "The list goes on and I thank each of these employees for their contribution to the good life we have here in Montana."
