MONTANA – Governor Steve Bullock today was sworn in as Montana’s 24th Governor by Montana Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike McGrath.

I’m deeply honored that Montanans have given me the opportunity to serve the state that I love as Governor for another four years,” Governor Bullock said. “Thank you for entrusting me to lead our state.

Governor Bullock expressed optimism that Montana can be a shining example of how the political system is supposed to work.

At the end of the day, we all want many of the same things. We want a good-paying job to support our families. We want our sons and daughters to be treated fairly and get a good education. We want to enjoy our public lands. We want to feel and be safe in our communities,” Bullock continued. “And we want a better future for our kids and our grandkids.

Bullock was reelected to a second term as Governor November 9, 2016. During his first four years in office, Bullock worked with Democrats and Republicans:

  • To make responsible decisions about the state’s budget and taxes;
  • To strengthen middle-class families;
  • Foster an economy that allows businesses to grow and hire more workers.
  • To make record investments in Montana’s public education system;
  • To bring our taxpayer dollars home and expand access to healthcare for 70,000 Montanans;
  • To bring transparency to Montana’s elections;
  • To protect Montana’s public lands and streams and access to them; and
  • To advance equal pay for equal work for all Montanans.
