(HELENA) – Governor Brian Schweitzer is in Washington D.C. today to meet with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden about the White House Task Force on Middle Class Working Families.

Governor Schweitzer was asked to be a part of the Task Force announcement and discussion which will focus on raising the living standards of middle-class, working families in America.

“I was honored to be asked to be at this meeting,” said Governor Schweitzer. “Working families face many challenges and for too long our government has failed to put the middle class front and center when making economic policy. It is time for that to change.”

Governor Schweitzer also met with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack about bison, brucellosis, pine beetles and the restoration economy.

Later today, Governor Schweitzer will meet with both the offices of Senators Baucus and Tester to discuss the Federal Jobs and Economic Recovery bill.

“The most important thing for me right now is to ensure that whatever money Montana does get, we can make sure it is on the ground and putting folks to work as soon as possible,” said Governor Schweitzer.
