Helena, Mont. - This week, Governor Steve Bullock will host his 3rd annual “Back to School Tour.” His tour will highlight innovative efforts in Montana schools to bolster college and career readiness for Montana students. Bullock and Lt. Gov. Angela McLean will visit schools in Columbia Falls, Havre, Box Elder, Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Missoula, Helena and Plains.

“There is no greater gift we can give to students than a quality education that prepares them to succeed throughout their lives,” Bullock said of the tour. “From dual enrollment and online classes, to career-focused training labs and curricula that develop foundational workforce skills, today’s students in Montana’s public school classrooms have access programs that allow them to explore career and college paths that will help them make informed decisions that will guide their future.”

Through their travels, Bullock and McLean will visit schools where students are earning college credit while in high school, gaining skills in STEM fields while in elementary school, learning skills such as resume writing and interviewing that will help them secure a job after graduation, and exploring career paths in some of today’s highest-demand fields.

“As a twenty year classroom teacher, I’ve seen first-hand how important a quality education is to student success,” McLean said. “With strong economic growth in our state, it is more important than ever that we are equipping students with skills to compete in today’s global economy.”

Since taking office in 2013, Bullock has toured Montana schools at the beginning of each school year to encourage students to do well and make the most of their educational opportunities. He’s also made it a point to thank teachers and school support staff for the work they do every day to support student success.

Earlier this month, Bullock also sent a video message to Montana public schools welcoming students back to the classroom.
