HELENA, Mont. – Governor Steve Bullock today announced details of the second Main Street Montana Project Peer-to-Peer Symposium. The Innovate Montana Symposium will highlight the innovation of Montana’s small businesses through informative panels, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities for attendees.

Montana’s economy continues to outpace much of the country thanks to the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of businesses throughout the state,” said Governor Bullock. “When small businesses on Montana’s Main Streets do well, our economy does well. This event will be an opportunity for business owners to access new resources to help them grow, expand, and create more good-paying jobs in towns all across the state.

Since the launch of Governor Bullock’s Main Street Montana Project, business leaders across the state involved in the initiative have cited the need for more networking opportunities in Montana to share knowledge, experience, and best practices.

Debbie Sterling is the Founder and CEO of GoldieBlox, an award-winning company on a mission to “disrupt the pink aisle” with toys, games, and media for girls. Debbie is an engineer, entrepreneur, and one of the leaders in the movement toward getting girls interested in science, technology, engineering, and math.

The Main Street Montana Project continues to be a driving force of innovative and new public-private partnerships across Montana,” said John Rogers, Chief Business Development Officer for the Governor. “We are excited that Ms. Sterling will be bringing her enthusiasm and business savvy to Montana to talk about her own experience and how Montana entrepreneurs can apply GoldieBlox’s innovative strategies to their operations.

The symposium will be held July 13 – 14, 2016 in downtown Billings at the Crown Plaza Hotel. Interested individuals can register by visiting

Governor Bullock launched the Main Street Montana Project in 2013, and tapped two of Montana’s most respected and accomplished business leaders: Larry Simkins, CEO of the Washington Companies, and Bill Johnstone, CEO of D.A. Davidson Companies to lead the effort.

The Main Street Montana Project is a dynamic and ongoing process identified by the five major pillars on which the plan is built:

  • Train and Educate Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
  • Create a Climate that Attracts, Retains and Grows Businesses
  • Build Upon Montana’s Economic Foundation
  • Market Montana
  • Nurture Emerging Industries and Encourage Innovation
