Governor Steve Bullock today announced the second annual Innovate Montana Symposium to highlight the innovation of Montana’s small businesses and connect diverse industries with economic opportunity through informative panels, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities for attendees.

Montana’s small businesses grow our economy and create more good-paying jobs,” said Governor Bullock. “This event will be an important opportunity for business owners, leaders, innovators, and inventors to access new resources to help them grow and succeed.

The Innovate Montana Symposium will be held July 12-13, 2017 in downtown Billings at the Double Tree by Hilton, Northern Hotel, and Pub Station. Pre-conference workshops will be held on July 11.

Dave Morin, entrepreneur, investor, and photographer, will keynote the symposium. Dave Morin is Founder and Partner of Slow Ventures, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm that champions long-term thinking to help companies grow and succeed. Slow Ventures serves over 200 companies including Slack, Pinterest, Evernote, and Postmates. A Montana native, Dave Morin formerly worked at both Apple and Facebook.

Bethany Yellowtail, founder of b.Yellowtail Designs, will also speak at the symposium. Bethany Yellowtail is a fashion designer who founded b.Yellowtail Designs to “bring indigenous voices back to the forefront” with artisanal and heirloom fashion pieces designed by Native American artists.

Additional keynote speakers will be announced in the following months.

The event’s high impact speaker series will be paired with focused breakout sessions and social events to create new collaborations, powerful partnerships, and action plans.

The Innovate Montana Symposium was launched by Governor Bullock’s Main Street Montana Project to bring business leaders across the state together to grow businesses, train and education Montana’s workforce, increase economic opportunities, and encourage innovation. Over 450 people attended last year’s symposium.
