Superintendent Arntzen Announces Montana’s Graduation, Completion, and Dropout Rates for 2016-2017 School Year

January 4, 2018

HELENA—State Superintendent Elsie Arntzen announced today Montana’s 2016-2017 school year graduation, completion, and dropout rates. Graduation rates saw a slight increase to 85.8% which is up from 85.6% during the 2015-2016 school year. There was a larger increase in Montana’s completion rate which is 86.2% compared to 85.8% in 2015-2016. Montana’s dropout rate remained unchanged at 2.3%.

Superintendent Arntzen is focused on ensuring that students have pathways to successful post-secondary careers as Montana’s graduation and dropout rates remain steady.

“It is crucial that Montana students have pathways to future success after they receive that high school diploma,” Arntzen said Thursday. “I am working with our partners in higher education and private sector industries to expand career pathways, so that all Montana students can succeed after high school.”
