Governor Bullock Welcomes Montana Students Back to School

Governor Bullock to visit new STARS Preschool classroom in Wibaux and announce a new initiative through dual enrollment

Monday, August 27, 2018/Categories: Governor's Office/Tags:

Governor Steve Bullock today released the following statement to welcome Montana students back to school.

“Public education is our nation’s great equalizer. Regardless of our background or where we live, our schools open the doors of opportunity to all Montanans. As the father of three school aged children, nothing is more important to me than making sure Montana’s students have the same opportunities that were afforded to me by a quality public education in Montana.

When we look back on this school year and all the success Montana’s students have had in the classroom, in our communities, or on the field, let’s make sure everyone has shared in that success. Let’s lift each other up, be kind to one another, and share in the progress of building an even greater Montana than before.”

Governor Bullock and Lt. Governor Cooney will be traveling the state this week to highlight new schools and educational opportunities, and to visit with students, teachers, and administrators.

Governor Bullock will visit Wibaux Public School’s new STARS preschool classroom. Wibaux Public School this year joined the 17 other STARS Preschool programs across the state that are providing high-quality preschool through the state’s first-ever investment in publicly-funded preschool. Governor Bullock worked with the 2017 Montana Legislature to secure funding and create the STARS Preschool pilot program to expand access to preschool for Montana’s four- and five-year-olds.

Governor Bullock and Commissioner Christian will also make a special announcement at Helena High School on a new dual enrollment initiative to increase access and save students and families money.
