Governor Bullock Hosts First Workshop on ‘Good Jobs for All Americans’

‘Good Jobs for All Americans’ to offer comprehensive approach to guide nation’s governors towards a more advanced and productive workforce

Governor Steve Bullock this week is hosting the first of three regional leadership workshops on his National Governors Association chair’s initiative, Good Jobs for All Americans, that will offer a comprehensive approach to guide the nation’s governors towards a more advanced and productive workforce.

“As chair of the National Governors Association, I’m focusing governors’ efforts on ensuring our country’s workers have the opportunity to get a good job that pays a decent wage with benefits they deserve,” said Governor Bullock. “The future prosperity of our states relies on our ability to equip workers for the future and aid current employees. I look forward to sharing Montana’s successes with other states, while learning from others innovative solutions to generating economic prosperity for all.”

The first regional leadership workshop is being held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Governor Bullock, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, Maryland Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford, national experts and state teams to identify existing state solutions, generate opportunities for state action in the face of shifting trends in state economies and labor markets, and elevate specific action steps for governors to create Good Jobs for All Americans using experience from data-informed best practices.

Participants are focusing on the initiative’s three priority areas: creating the workforce of the future, offering workers a second act, and reinvigorating rural communities. Workshop activities include an armchair chat on the governor’s initiative and session discussions on the priority areas.

The other two regional leadership workshops will be hosted by Governor Bullock in Las Vegas, Nevada in December and Des Moines, Iowa in March. In May, Governor Bullock will welcome state teams and experts to the Good Jobs for All Americans Solutions Summit in Whitefish, Montana to share specific actions governors can take in the short term to build the workforce of the future, reskill mid-career workers for success, and empower the workforce.
